Meet the Coaches

Coach Will Carter

 

Coach Carter began coaching in a volunteer capacity while in college at Texas A&M University.  After graduating with his masters in 2010, he continued volunteer coaching while teaching physics at Richland High School.  In 2013 he was named head cross country coach at Colleyville Heritage High School where he remained as head cross country and assistant track coach until 2018.  While at Colleyville Heritage he coached Texas XC 6A State Champion David Strome.  In 2018 Coach Carter accepted the head girls track and head cross country position at Byron Nelson High School.  He moved to Argyle High School in 2021 as head boys cross country coach and assistant track coach.  The Argyle boys XC team were the 4A State Runners-Up in 2021.

Coach Carter is a USATF Level II certified track coach.  He has coached many high school runners to the state cross country and track meets

 

 

Coach Jerry Carter

 

"Coach Carter the Wiser" started coaching football and track at Big Spring High School in the 70s after graduating from Rice University with a degree in kinesiology.  In the late 70s he moved to Conroe High School where he coached cross country and track and taught until 1989 when he accepted the position of head cross country and assistant track at Trinity High School.  In 1993 he became head cross country and head girls track coach at Grapevine High School where he remained until he retired from teaching in 2007.  He is a State of Texas Cross Country Hall of Fame Coach and led many individuals and teams to the state cross country and track meets.

Coach Carter is in high demand as a cross country and track official both in the DFW area and for collegiate meets for Rice University.  He also coaches at the Run Across Texas Camps.
